Meet Max

A Hoosier. A Father. A Fighter.

Max Engling is a Christian, conservative, husband to Kelcey, and proud father of four. As one of eight children, Max learned the values of faith, hard work, and personal responsibility from an early age. Those principles continue to guide his life and his campaign for Indiana Secretary of State.

Max brings a unique combination of private-sector experience, public service, and election insight to the office. He is running to protect Indiana's elections, strengthen confidence in our democratic process, and make it easier for Hoosiers and businesses to succeed by rooting out fraud and cutting unnecessary government red tape.

To pay his way through college, Max worked construction while earning his bachelor's degree at IUPUI, and later earned a master's degree in National Defense and Strategic Planning as a civilian at the U.S. Naval War College. Today, he and his family live in Cicero, Indiana, where they are active members in the same church where they were married fifteen years ago and now serve in a variety of teaching and volunteer roles.

After college, Max continued working for a small business in Indiana, giving him firsthand experience navigating the regulations and bureaucracy that entrepreneurs face every day. Those experiences reinforced his belief that government should serve citizens, not stand in their way.

During the Tea Party movement, Max moved to Washington, D.C., where he served on the House Administration Committee, the U.S. House committee responsible for election administration and oversight. There, he gained valuable experience in election law, congressional oversight, and public policy. He later worked in House leadership as a senior staff member, helping advance conservative legislation and priorities.

After starting a family, Max and Kelcey chose to be near both of their families and return home to Indiana because they believed there was no better place to build a life rooted in faith, family, and freedom. His commitment to serving Hoosiers led him to run for Congress, where he renewed strong relationships with grassroots leaders, local officials, and communities across the state.

Max later joined Beck's Hybrids, where he helped develop an agricultural education initiative connecting state and federal policymakers with Indiana farmers and the state's agricultural economy. This experience, along with his own rural background, further strengthened his appreciation for the role agriculture and small businesses play in Indiana's success.

Most recently, Max served on the staff of U.S. Senator Jim Banks, traveling throughout Indiana to meet with faith leaders, business owners, elected officials, grassroots activists, and families in every corner of the state. Through those conversations, he has heard the same priorities again and again: protect election integrity, reduce government overreach, and create a stronger environment for Indiana businesses to grow and thrive.

As Secretary of State, Max will work to ensure that only eligible citizens vote in Indiana elections, advocate for closed primaries to preserve the integrity of the Republican nomination process, strengthen protections against business fraud – including dangerous transportation companies – and improve transparency by making it easier for citizens to report potential election concerns. Drawing on his experience in both state and federal government, Max is prepared to lead an office that works well with conservative statehouse leaders and serves Hoosiers with integrity, accountability, and efficiency.

Max believes Indiana's best days are still ahead. He is running to keep Indiana moving forward by protecting our elections, supporting our businesses, and delivering the honest, conservative leadership Hoosiers deserve.

Indiana's future depends on leaders who will stand up, serve with integrity, and fight for Hoosiers. Max is running to keep Indiana moving forward with both the vision and support to win.
